For beginner surf and a family pace, look south towards Foz do Lizandro, where the beach is wide and the mood calmer. North towards Ribamar is quieter still, close to the reserve's reefs and better with a car. Out towards Santo Isidoro and the Praia da Calada direction it turns rural and peaceful, but you will want a car for everything.
