A long, wide golden bay on the road towards Sintra, space to roam, dependable surf and a restaurant with a view.
Just south of Ericeira on the way to Sintra, São Julião is a long sweep of golden sand that rarely feels crowded. It catches plenty of swell, so there is usually something to surf, and the size means walkers and swimmers find their own space too.
The restaurant on the headland above is a local favourite for lunch with a sea view. A car makes it easiest to reach.
